Message from Rachel & Alex

From Rachel

Hi there, I’m Rachel! My journey centers on building meaningful connections and creating supportive spaces to encourage personal growth and well-being. I founded Sorority Serenity to empower college-aged women through programming that champions health and wellness. With a background in event planning, client relations, and program development, I am passionate about creating impactful experiences that positively affect women. As an Alpha Epsilon Phi alum from the University of Texas at Austin, I know how challenging it can be to balance school, work, and sorority life. My experiences and those of so many women I know affirm the need for wellness support—precisely what Sorority Serenity provides. I want to express my gratitude for your interest in our work. Thanks for stopping by—I’m excited to share more about our mission!

From Alex

Hi, I'm Alex! I am passionate about supporting students in college life as the Co-founder and Clinical Director at Sorority Serenity. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. I am a psychotherapist working at a group practice in Dallas, Texas and I am a Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. My expertise and experience working with various university fraternity chapters allow me to identify wellness needs and create systems that truly make a difference. At Sorority Serenity, I oversee our clinical services, ensuring our professionals help students thrive during their college journey. Thank you for being here!

Sorority life is a tapestry of unforgettable moments—big-little reveals, philanthropy events, and late-night talks with sisters who feel like family. However, woven into this fabric are our struggles: the stress of balancing academics, social expectations, and serving in leadership roles amongst our peers. The pressure to fit in. The conflicts that arise when living with close friends. The moments when you feel overwhelmed but don't know where to turn. These are the threads that bind us, and we are here to help you weave them into a stronger, more resilient sisterhood.

Sorority Serenity was born from the belief that no sister should have to navigate these challenges alone. Our founder, Rachel Buxbaum, cherished her sorority experience but faced the same struggles many do. She knew she was not alone—countless women around her faced similar challenges, often in silence. That’s how the idea for Sorority Serenity took shape: a dedicated mental health resource explicitly designed for sorority women by someone who truly understands their world.

We provide sorority chapters with licensed therapists, counseling, and educational programming. We offer support in stress management, mental health, academic pressure, and personal development. We aim to create a culture where asking for help is not just accepted but encouraged, where emotional well-being is acknowledged and prioritized, and where every sister feels truly seen and supported.
